AF3458 by The Liminanas

AF3458
Je Ne Suis Pas Tres Drogue (previously on CWR)
She's On My Track by Les Bellas (previously on CWR)

I'm not sure why this one has been sitting in my inbox for so long because The Liminanas and their fuzzy 60's garage sound are definitely a favorite around these parts as I've discussed here more than once.  I guess this tune didn't come with news of a new LP release so it inadvertently sat on the backburner for a while, but don't let that give you an
impression of how I feel about it.  After multiple fabulous releases in 2010 consisting of a 7″ on Hozac and their wonderful self-titled debut LP and another 7" from Trouble in Mind Records, The Liminanas are back with a new 7″ single, 'AF3458' from SDZ Records based out of France (buy).  'AF3458' continues their path of truly infectious, throwback grooves that take you straight to a smoky basement cafe off of a Parisian alley where the only people there are the ones that know it's there.  The band's ability to capture the essence of the time and sound of Serge Gainsbourg and the Velvet Underground and meld it into their own French jangly sound is a mesmerizing, psychedelic treat.  The b-side, 'Betty and Johnny' slows the tempo down, but keeps the groove level high with the tambourines, bass line, and rolling drums (listen).  Its release from SDZ Records is a French release so it might be hard to find in the U.S., but it's definitely worth the shipping costs.  Take a listen to 'AF3458' above with one of the highlights off their LP from last year.  Also, do yourself a favor and get acquainted (if you aren't already) with their previous band, Les Bellas, the great tune by them above, and their interesting back story.
