PURPLE SLUMBER by Vacations

Purple Slumber

Dystopic Vision by Fungi Girls (previously on CWR)

According to the fine folks over at Get Bent, the frontman for Texas' Fungi Girls, Jacob Bruce, has recorded this breezy demo of jangly rock under the name Vacations.  This tune is all we have for now, but Jacob has said that he's working on an album...no real details as of yet.  If you're familiar with Fungi Girls you can recognize the familiar vocal style, but the thrashing psych/garage element of Fungi Girls has been exchanged for a much dreamier take on things with 'Purple Slumber.'  Who knows where or how this sound will develop, but it's definitely worth staying on top of his Facebook for more details.  Lets take this opportunity to look back and

Texas' Fungi Girls are back making news with a teaser of two songs from their second LP, Some Easy Magic, scheduled to be released July 11 from Hozac Records.  Take a listen to two of the songs off the LP and feel free to download one of 'em.  It's not a stretch to say that we'll be getting some more of that hazey, nostalgic, garage/surf that they do oh so well.  Catch their back catalog at their new Bandcamp site.  They'll be in L.A. July 27 for an in-store at the great Chicago record store moved

with the great couple of singles that came out from this texas trio earlier this year, i revisited their 2009 LP seafaring pyramids, on play pinball! records and felt obliged to post about it.  the record is loaded with garage, shoegaze, and surf elements, and has some of the best controlled feedback i've ever heard. here are two highlights that don't feature the feedback i'm referring too (check out the tune kowloon walled city), but you can also listen at their myspace or pick up the record here.
