WILD WOMAN by French Kissing

Wild Woman
I Want More

More bands out of Britain seem to have been surfacing into the whole surf/retro thing as of late, and French Kissing falls right smack into that territory.  They put out a double A-side single on Croque Macadam Records last week for the songs 'Wild Women' and 'Love Is For' (buy).  'Wild Women' is available up top, as is 'I Want More,' which is an older track from them that just surfaced a few weeks ago.  More of their stuff is over at their Bandcamp.

I AM NOT A GAME by White Fence & Ty Segall

I Am Not A Game
Cherry Red by Ty Segall

King of the Decade by White Fence

A preview of the forthcoming LP collaboration, Hair (pre-order), between Tim Presley (White Fence) and Ty Segall has finally surfaced and 'I Am Not A Game' sets expectations on the right note.  It contains all the psychedelia that you'd expect from Tim and weighs more towards sounding like a White

[on repeat] GIRLS by Royal Headache

Girls
Surprise

Royal Headache are out of Sydney, Australia and are re-issuing their self-titled debut LP (pre-order) from 2011 through What's Your Rupture? Records so that the rest of the world can get a taste of their nostalgic, soulful take on some ramshackle punk-pop.  There's a retro sheen behind the R&B style vocals that give the band a genuinely vintage type sound over the frantic, modern delivery of the tunes.  The LP

[on repeat] WHITE ALBUM by The Black Tambourines

White Album
27-25 Blues

The Black Tambourines are a fantastic retro-garage sounding band out of the UK that I will definitely be paying attention to.  They are not to be confused with the similarly named (and highly influential) US band Black Tambourine that released an LP in the 80s on Slumberland Records and just recently reunited.  Both bands are great in their own sense, but the Black Tambourines just released their third EP Chica in Dec, 2011 on Art is Hard Records.  It's somewhat of a British take

BAD THING by King Tuff

Bad Thing
Wild Desire

Kind Of Guy (previously on CWR)

The time is nearing for the heavily anticipated 2nd LP from King Tuff.  He continued to impress after the revealing of 'Wild Desire' and 'Hole In My Head' from his single release kicking off the 2012 Suicide Squeeze Records singles series, and now we have the opportunity to listen to 'Bad Thing,' which is the first track to surface from his forthcoming self-titled LP

[on repeat] DO YOU KNOW IDA KNOW by White Fence

Do You Know Ida Know

King Of The Decade

Tim Presley has taken the 'trippy' factor to a whole new level on the first volume of the White Fence Family Perfume series being released this year from Woodsist Records.  Volume 1 (pre-order) contains 14 tracks of psychedelia that contain an abundance of similarities from his first two LPs, but it's taken to a so much deeper and prettier place on many of the tunes.  Take a listen to 'Do You Know Ida Know,' which is a

DIG YOUR GRAVE by The Pharmacy

Dig Your Grave
Pines

Seattle's The Pharmacy released the Dig Your Grave EP (buy) in early February from Kind Turkey Records.  The band has released three notable albums of moody, psychedelic garage pop in the past decade and the new EP is a glimpse of what's to come on their full length, Stoned & Alone, expected later this year from Park The Van Records.  The title track storms through with some energy and an uplifting synth

IT'S A PROBLEM by Ty Segall

It's A Problem by Ty Segall

I Could Be Better Than You But I Don't Wanna Change by The Feeling of Love

Ty Segall just finished a tour with his buddies Mikal Cronin and White Fence.  The Feeling of Love from France are also joined them for part of the trek and to commemorate the occasion Ty Segall and The Feeling of Love released a split 7" from Permanent Records that is limited to 550 copies.  It was available during their recent tour together, but seeing how

CRIME IN THE CITY by Adam Widener

Crime in the City
Groovy Intuitions

Adam Widener toured and recorded in a multiple of Milwaukee punk and power pop bands (Plexi 3, The Zygoteens) before heading west and settling in San Francisco where he enjoyed a stint playing bass for Bare Wires.  After parting ways with the band and no longer being the 'backup guy' he went out on his own to record demos for his own songs that he'd written over the years.  Ultimately, he teamed up with Big Action Records for the January, 2012, release of Cola Kids Hanging

[on repeat] HOLY GEOMETRY by Blasted Canyons

Holy Geometry
Get High

I had the opportunity to catch the Bay Area's Blasted Canyons this past Saturday at the Pehrspace Gallery and they blew me away.  I'll admit I was somewhat indifferent to their debut self-titled LP last year (didn't dislike it, didn't love it), but they bring an overdose of energy to their live show that is simply infectious and can't be ignored.  Between each song

DER MICROARC by Violens

Der Microarc
Unfolding Black Wings

Two promising tunes from Brooklyn three-piece Violens upcoming second LP True.  The psych-pop outfit will be releasing the record on May 15 from Slumberland Records and these two tracks from the LP show a much cleaner, tighter sound than evidenced on their debut LP, Amoral.  There are plenty of other post-Amoral tunes at their Bandcamp including some that were part of their Nine Songs 2011 release (buy) where you can definitely hear the transition in sound taking place.

YOU'RE NOT WELCOME by Fountains

You're Not Welcome
Insecure

Fountains are a five-piece band out of London that may make you question whether Ian Curtis is truly dead after you listen to them.  They recently played their very first show a few weeks ago on the heels of a debut cassette EP release, No Sleep, limited to only 50 copies and produced by the same fellow who worked with Veronica Falls.  Two tracks from the EP are above where you'll hear a clear new wave-ish 80's,

GOODTIME BLUES by TRMRS

Goodtime Blues
Enter The Door

Orange County's garage punkers TRMRS are teaming up with the just as wonderful Night Beats from Seattle for a split 7" to be released in April on Volcom Entertainment and Resurrection Records.  TRMRS just came through town recently so they shouldn't be back anytime soon, but give these two songs a listen.  They're both much slower-paced than what we're used to from them, but they still carry their familiar western sound...and...with patience comes the guitar onslaught and drum banging that is more associated with

[on repeat] STAB ME by The Hussy

Stab Me
Undefined (previously on CWR)

The Hussy are the duo of Bobby Hussy and Heather Hussy out of Madison, Wisconsin and they're about to release their second LP, Weed Seizure, on Tic Tac Totally Records.  Weed Seizure is the follow-up to the band's awesome debut LP, Cement Tomb Mind Control, from May of last year.  The new record is a hard-hitting melter just like last year's LP, and it's filled with short, loud, spiky, scuzzy, jams with piercing guitars that will leave you joyfully scarred.  They're gearing up

BROKEN RECORD by Eux Autres

Broken Record

Home Tonight

It's not just raucous, gritty, garage tunes coming out of San Francisco these days.  Eux Autres are a trio based up there that are true to their name by channelling a retro sixties, French style of gorgeous, uplifting pop.  Vocal duties are shared by the brother/sister duo and their most recent EP, Sun Is Sunk, was released Feb 28 on Bons Mots Records.  Two songs from the EP are featured above.  You can order it

MEET THE GOLDEN ONE by Burnt Ones

Meet The Golden One

Luv (previously on CWR)

San Francisco's Burnt Ones have unleashed a stomping new 7" for 'The Golden One' b/w 'Luv' as a split release from Burger Records and Burnt Ones new label Gold Records.  This fuzzed out release is truly a gem  with its pressing on gold vinyl (the color, not the precious stone) and is limited to only 300 copies.  Pre-order it over at Burger Records and grab your digital copies in the meantime at the band's Bandcamp.

THE PATH HOME by Bad Indians

The Path Home

All Over Now

Bad Indians are a five-piece out of Michigan and they stir up a sound that is very familiar (and very welcomed) around these parts, which include plenty of crunchy guitars, boy/girl vocals, and lots of the wonderful grittiness to their sound that I love so much.  Their 7" for 'The Path Home' was released by Gingko Records last fall and the title track seems to exemplify their sound the most, but you still can't quite tell

LOSE YOUR MIND by So Many Wizards

Lose Your Mind
Inner City

'Lose Your Mind' is an abundantly pleasant, upbeat new tune from the L.A. 4-piece So Many Wizards.  The song will be included on their upcoming LP, Warm Nothing, that's out later this year on the local label JAXART.  Their previous releases follow suit with the catchy, sunshine drenched sounds that include  a 7" for 'Inner City/Best Friends' last year and Tree EP from 2009.  If you're the giving type the band are fundraising for their upcoming UK tour at IndieGoGo.
