King Tuff's self-titled follow-up to the overwhelmingly great 2008 LP, Was Dead, finally came out yesterday from Sub Pop! (buy). I've spent the past few weeks listening, soaking it in, basking in its glam-ness, and it's a softer, slower affair than his debut solo LP, but don't let that dissuade you because it's still miles better than lots of the other stuff
floating around the genre. More importantly, this post gives me the opportunity to highlight his L.A. show on July 27 at The Echo ($10 tickets). He's always a charismatic blast live and this one shouldn't be missed because he has a run of California dates with fellow label-mates Jaill who will be promoting their upcoming LP, Traps (pre-order), out June 12, and also Atlanta's riotous punkers The Coathangers...the girls have a new split 7" with Davila 666 (buy) and they always bring it with their shared vocals and individual variety of punk flavors to each of their tunes. It should be a fun night.

'Stranger' is on the new King Tuff release, 'Waste A Lot Of Things' is from the forthcoming Traps by Jaill, and 'Trailer Park Boneyard' is from last year's Larceny and Old Lace from The Coathangers.
