Cosmonauts are a local 4-piece out of Orange County that released their self-titled debut (buy) earlier this year on Chicago's Permanent Records. Take a look at their album cover art to the left and I bet you that the assumption you make about their sound will be entirely off base. These guys can bring it, and that's exactly what you'll get from today's
featured two songs from the record. 'Neon Kids' churns along with its crunchy guitars and 60's punk psychedelia feel. 'TV California' grooves along at a faster pace, but has the same sound that led me to enjoy The People's Temple record so much. This record isn't as consistent as The People's, but it definitely shows that their more than capable of blasting it out. Turn it up...
There will be more than ample opportunity in the next few weeks to witness the guitar onslaught in person, if you so choose, because they are playing this Friday, June 10 at the Psycho Beach Party at Blue Star restaurant with Bare Wires, burgers and beers ($10 tickets), Saturday, June 11 at 3:00 p.m. at the Moon Block Party festival in Downtown Pomona (FREE!) and that evening at The Prospector Steakhouse and Saloon with Crystal Antlers, and headlining their own show at 5 Star Bar on July 1. Tell me that all of these shows don't sound kick ass?!
