The Way Down
In The End
There's been a LOT of throwback music over the past year or two paying direct homage to the sweet, girl group, Phil Spector sounds of the 50s and 60s. Die Jungen is Klaus Von Barrel who comes out of Southhampton and is going for the throwback thing as well, but is taking it in another direction entirely. Klaus is known mostly for his dark
, neopsychedelic electric sounds of his project The KVB, which are worthy themselves of an entirely separate post here later. His latest project, Die Jungen, ditches the electronics and the modernism and is extremely mellow, but in a seriously good way. Smooth sounds of the west, post doo-wop, surf, and not having a care in the world echo through every tune in not only the sounds, but the tempo and mood of the tracks. The EP cover above tells the whole story..it's an EP you throw on, forget about, and let it sweep you away to another place. Above are two tracks from this wonderful debut EP, $, which is available for donation at his Bandcamp and Soundcloud. Die Jungen (translated as 'The Youth' in German) was an anarchist group of German Social Democrats in the 1890s that surfaced as a reaction to the opportunism of the party's right wing...FYI...don't say you never learned anything from reading this blog.
