Fragrant Nimbus
No More Always
Swedes grace the blog today in the form of The Skull Defekts. They just recently signed to Thrill Jockey Records for the release of their upcoming LP Peer Amid and added a new vocalist the fits just perfect with their dark, noise-rock experimental sound that isn't metal, but includes varying
influences from tribal drumming and chugging guitars. Apparently, all of the members of the band have a pretty high pedigree in that they've been involved in a myriad of Swedish experimental acts. I'm not familiar with any of them (Kid Commando, Satan Power, Alvars Orkester, Oceans of Silver & Blood, 8 Days of Nothing and Cortex, plus collaborations with Pan Sonic), but listening to Peer Amid piques my curiosity to do some digging around. The LP came out on Feb 22 (buy) and two of the tracks are featured here. Currently their US tour is only taking them to the south, northeast, and midwest. No L.A. dates scheduled.
