Thunderbirds
Brunettes
Tennessee's CoolRunnings are somewhat of an anomaly to me, or at a minimum, seeking out their stuff doesn't seem as straightforward as it should most of the time. Nonetheless, it's always a worthy treat once it's done. You may remember the previous posts about them and their attractive lo-fi, chillwave qualities. Well, this new song, 'Thunderbirds',
finds them testing out new ground with guitars and more of a rock/pop sound (with much success I might add). This song is great and builds the anticipation for the forthcoming LP, Teenage Tn, which should be out very soon as they're putting 'the finishing touches on it', but no definite date yet. Seeking out information on them may get more centralized since their blog has been redesigned into more of a record label site called Dracula Horse with a list of artists, but again that's all I have, their information escapes me. Anyways, in other news they have teamed up with Beko, a new online only label for singles, who puts out free singles downloads every Monday. They focus on new bands, especially the ones oriented to shoegaze and dream pop, but also cover many other genres. This week's features is the 78th selection of the series and is CoolRunnings 'Midnight Rudy' and 'Brunette' is the b-side. As I already mentioned, you can grab the whole thing for free at Beko. The site is probably worth a bookmark, isn't it?
