HYPNOTIC REGRESSION by Girls Names

(previously on CWR)

If you haven't heard about Girls Names, there's a good chance that will be changing.  The band recently added a 4th member and are out of Belfast, Ireland. A couple of promising, darkly veiled, and jangly EPs were released in 2010 that caught the attention of a few.  The band's debut LP, Dead To Me (buy),
followed in 2011 and garnered an exceptional amount of acclaim (especially from CWR), but the band was set on not resting comfortably with their accomplishment.  It's been nearly two years since Dead To Me and the band's post-punk jangle has matured and redirected into a thicker, more dense aura to their established goth-laden, surf sound.  There's a clear competence and greater attention to detail in the new songs that establish an atmospheric swell in their completeness, which is evident in the sophomore LP's title track, 'New Life,' a nearly 8-minute hypnosis that evokes much greater things than this band had been previously known for. And now, the second track from the upcoming LP, 'Hypnotic Regression,' has surfaced with squalling guitars and a dark, driving beat to further demonstrate their growth and experimentation and forecasting the blissful mind bender that is in store for us upon the release of New Life on February 18, 2013, from Slumberland Records.  If you haven't heard about Girls Names, something tells me that will change in the upcoming months.
