ABDUCTED by Cults

Abducted
You Know What I Mean

It's pretty amazing how long hype will last and how far it will get you.  It's been over a year since the unknown (at that time) Cults from San Diego took over the blog world in an immediate instant with their one-off (at that time) shimmering slice of dreamy 60's pop bliss in the form of the song 'Go
Outside.'  Since then, there's been a couple of singles totaling a handful of songs that have kept their 'name' around and carried them through a nice little touring schedule.  Not to begrudge them entirely, though, because one of those other songs ('Oh My God') was just as lovely and catchy and good enough to keep the internet folks salivating over them even if their live sets lasted barely long enough for you to finish a drink.  Maybe it had something to do with the fact that their original intentions were to do film, and then the music took off quicker than they expected and before they had enough material to work with.  Well, the time has finally come for them to show their goods and show what they're made of.  The release of the debut, self-titled LP happens on May 31 on Columbia Records.  A few weeks ago the band featured the song 'You Know What I Mean' off the upcoming LP, which was a staple in their live set.  The studio version did the song great justice and gave it much more energy than when it was performed live.  And, just a few days ago it was announced that, in honor of Record Store Day on April 16th, they'll be releasing the 7" for 'Abducted,' which is another song off the upcoming album and it's pretty fucking fabulous.  I guess it's hard to argue with...kinda like arguing about a wonderful lollipop.  Catch both these tunes right here.  Folks going to Coachella this weekend should be pleased to know that there's at least an album's worth of material to work with so it should make for an ideal set amidst the California afternoon sunshine.
