Following up yesterday's post, here's yet another up and coming New York band with an LP of songs that rip right through you. Parquet Courts are transplants from Texas and you can hear their home roots in their take on some good ramshackle, proto-punk rock. Their debut release, American Specialties, was only available on cassette and didn't stir up
much attention, but their follow-up, and proper debut LP, Light Up Gold, was released a few weeks ago and steps up the production value quite a bit. It's a blissful reminder of the post-punk era where the angst of punk was taken and melded with dark, groovy bass lines.
