The exquisite jangle pop purveyors known as
Ski Lodge are out of Brooklyn and are following up their self-titled debut EP from from 2011 with a new single for 'Just To Be Like You.' The single was produced by Kevin McMahon who has worked with
The Walkmen,
Real Estate, and Swans and comes out from
Dovecote Records on 4/16. The single
featured here last
year
highlighted the band's knack for blissful, sugary melodies that encompassed the mood of the whole EP, and this sentiment continues on 'Just To Be Like You,' but don't let the springtime mood of the tune fool you. Behind the vocal crooning of Andrew Marr is a depressing father/son tale and even more gloomy realization. The band is finishing up their debut full length release so stay tuned for news of its forthcoming release, and be sure to catch them at
The Echo on April 30. Check out the new single above along with 'I Would Rather Be' from the debut EP, then stream the rest of the EP over at their
Bandcamp.
