CLIMB DOWN by Shape Breaker

Philadelphia band Shape Breaker have me asking the question, 'What happens when you take your take your guitar, drag it through the mud, play it to death, add a driving undercurrent of shoegaze-y reverb, and top it with a layer of hazy vocals?' Simple answer: Shape Breaker's new album Eyes Wide is what you get for your work. And this
album WORKS. It's not your classic shoegaze sound; rather, Shape Breaker's sound has more to it than just long, drony, reverb throughout the songs. The songs are fast-driving, with no relaxed laziness, and the album pulls you througfh from opener 'Climb Down' straight to the closing song 'So It Goes.' Add in a bit of punk to tracks like 'Losing Track' and you've got a fun, dirty, wild ride of an album. Overall, Shape Breaker are able to blend elements of shoegaze, punk, garage, and straight-up rock and roll into a sound all their own. The LP appears to have been self-released in February, 2013.  Stream and download (for FREE) the entire LP at their Bandcamp where you can also check out the band's first album titled no fun., which offers up the fast and dirty sound they've built on further for Eyes Wide.
