Wild Smiles are a band out of Southhamption that released a double-A sided 7" on March 11 from Portishead's Geoff Barrow's UK label Invada Records. The 7" for 'Tangled Hair' and 'Sweet Sixteen' follows last year's debut EP and continues the stoner-fuzz garage pop vibe that contains elements of some sweet indie surf pop while also entering into
a hell of some raucous rocking. The first comparison that entered my mind when listening was the lo-fi, hazy energetic pop that came out of Cloud Nothings in the fantastic early singles released before his debut LP. 'Tangled Hair' is featured on the new 7" and 'You Don't Care About Me' was one of the handful of promising tunes released last year, and both possess the sweetness of a delicate pop song with moments of assaulting guitars. Wild Smiles are making the news out in the UK and there is a full-length expected sometime this year so we'll see how this all unfolds. You can pick up a copy of the 7" here.
