Another year, another release from San Francisco's Thee Oh Sees. There really isn't much else to say about John Dwyer and crew with the countless releases (35?) and LPs (12?) over the past decade, and not to mention Dwyer's extensive stint in the music scene well before Thee Oh Sees saw the light of day. Their new LP, Floating Coffin, is out on Dwyer's
own Castle Face Records label. The label acknowledges its unfamiliarity with release dates and this is evident in the fact that a pre-order is already shipped and sold out directly from the label, yet the LP is slated to be 'released' on April 16...whatever that may mean. Nevertheless, Floating Coffin is another masterpiece from the band that takes their familiarities and stretches the creativity in ways that continue to grow upon the masterful discography that's already been assembled. Some of the left over songs from the Floating Coffin sessions will be assembled for a vinyl release on Record Store Day to benefit a San Francisco health care non-profit. Both tracks above are off this great LP...be sure to get your hands on a copy of both new releases if you can.
