Inside My Head
Bare Mutants are releasing their debut 7" as part of four great releases coming from HoZac Records next week (buy). This is the third feature here on these releases so I'm sure you can probably guess what's coming on the blog tomorrow. Jered Gummere is the core of the band and has been recording in various other outfits for over 15 years, most notably with The Ponys and Guilty Pleasures. For this current project he's
enlisted a formidable supporting cast in Seth from Mannequin Men on bass, Jeanine from The 1900's on backup vocals and tambourine, and rounding it out with two friends on drum and organ. 'Without You' and 'Inside My Head' take up the A/B sides of the release, respectively, and they are both slow tempo, psychedelic songs that churn along gracefully with a simplistic beauty that gets even better after adding Gummere's low, drony vocals. I enjoyed both songs upon first listen, but was definitely sold after watching their performance from Coach House Sounds last June (below).
