Rich Doors
New Villager are a duo of multi-media artists from San Francisco and New York. They have a pretty interesting back story and perspective on creating their art in a mythological sense and world perspective. Honestly, it's way over the top for me, but if you're interested you can dive into

BEACH SLALOM by Bos Angeles
Beach Slalom
My apologies, only one song today because I don't know much about this band at all, and that's still quite an understatement. What I do know is that Bos Angeles are a band from the small town Boscombe, UK. One other thing

[on repeat] FISHING WITH ROBERT by Dead Gaze
Fishing With Robert
Emmanuel Can't Come Close Enough
Here's some more fantastic stuff out of Mississippi and the Cats Purring folks. Dead Gaze keep the fuzzy vocals that's been the norm for some of the other bands out of Mississippi, but they take the music into a more lush and psychedelic soundscape. They have a new 3-track 7" single

Y Do U Call Me
I'm Leaving It Up To You (cover of Dale & Grace)
L.A. via Oakland via Massachusetts' Colleen Green released her new 'Green One' 7" from Hardly Art Records on March 1 (buy). It has 4 tracks that have rapidly scratched up quite a few listens on my iPod the last couple weeks. Listen to 2 of the 4 songs on the 7" above and do yourself a favor and pick up the record to hear the other two. Within two months of

WINTER 10/11 MIXTAPE
It's that time again...the end of the gloomy Winter season and time for the bloom, sunshine, and promises of Spring...which means time for a mixtape! Looking back over the past 3 months it's been a ride to say the least. We ushered in a new year (seems like forever ago), saw a supermoon, got what seems to be a new Radiohead album, managed to get into another war in the Middle East, and the worst of it has been the utterly incomprehensible disaster in Japan. Best of all, there's been some great music and here are some highlights. Stream the mixtape below via Soundcloud, or click on the cassette after the jump to download it. Enjoy!

THROUGH THE FLOOR by Crystal Stilts
Through The Floor
Shake The Shackles (previously on CWR)
Brooklyn's Crystal Stilts are back with their 2nd LP, In Love With Oblivion, out on April 12 from Slumberland Records (pre-order). Check out a new song from the upcoming album above along with their great single, 'Shake The Shackles,' from last year, which strangely is going to appear on the new record as well.

IT'S TOO LATE by The KVB
It's Too Late
Lost
I wrote about Southhampton's Klaus Von Barrel last week, but that was to promote his laid back, surf sounds of his Die Jungen project. Today, we're taking a complete 180 from those sounds to look at his other project The KVB, which is modern, fuzzy, dark, electric, neopsychedelic goodness that

SWIMSUIT by Oregon Bike Trails
Swimsuit
Summer Thing
Hey, here's another Los Angeles artist for you to take note of. Oregon Bike Trails is the name that Santa Monica musician Zach Yudin goes by. It's an interesting choice because his music clearly evokes feelings that are just overloaded with California sunshine and tropicalia. Take a listen to the sun-drenched sound that I'm talking about on

TO THE ALPS by Princeton
To The Alps
Calypso Gold
Los Angeles' Princeton took a break after their 2009 LP, Cocoon of Love, and during that time the brothers in the band found some recognition in their side projects Kisses and Mystery Claws. They're now back as Princeton and preparing to release their second LP later this year on the L.A. independent label Hit City USA who is also home to

THUNDERBIRDS by CoolRunnings
Thunderbirds
Brunettes
Tennessee's CoolRunnings are somewhat of an anomaly to me, or at a minimum, seeking out their stuff doesn't seem as straightforward as it should most of the time. Nonetheless, it's always a worthy treat once it's done. You may remember the previous posts about them and their attractive lo-fi, chillwave qualities. Well, this new song, 'Thunderbirds',

Fade To Gray
Radio Barons take a page right out of the great 80's sounding rock outfits like The Replacements and sometimes flirt with a little early R.E.M. jangle. They are a 3-piece from Brooklyn that were kind enough to share their new 3-track EP, Undone, with me and it's short, but sweet. It was

[on repeat] THE WAY DOWN by Die Jungen
The Way Down
In The End
There's been a LOT of throwback music over the past year or two paying direct homage to the sweet, girl group, Phil Spector sounds of the 50s and 60s. Die Jungen is Klaus Von Barrel who comes out of Southhampton and is going for the throwback thing as well, but is taking it in another direction entirely. Klaus is known mostly for his dark

TEN-TWENTY-TEN by Generationals
Ten-Twenty-Ten
Carrying the Torch - (previously on CWR)
CWR's favorite New Orleans band, Generationals, has released another new song off their forthcoming LP. Take a listen to super-catchy guitar riff on Ten-Twenty-Ten from the album, Actor-Caster, which is due out on March 29 on Park the Van records. I'm not sure why there aren't any pre-order options, but it'll be available soon.

TROUBLE by Clip Stamp Fold
Trouble
Etrangere
These Londoners have that moody, gloomy sound that can be so soothing and pleasant. There's the deep vocals, relaxed bass and soothing, brooding melodies of a post-punk sound reminiscent of Joy Division and early Interpol. They have just released a three-song, self-titled EP (demo?) that

DEATH AS A FETISH by Starfucker
Death as a Fetish
Julius
Portland indie/electro-pop band Starfucker released their new album, Reptilians, March 8th on Polyvinyl. It seems like I've been seeing their name everywhere lately (probably because it's so damn recognizable), and seeing that I have never heard anything by them I felt obligated to give them a listen. As the 'indie/electro-pop' band description would suggest,
