Costa Rican trio Las Robertas have been fairly quiet since releasing their debut LP, Cry Out Loud, two years ago. The band has switched its drummer and are adding some punch to their sound and production with the release of their new Dissected Affair 7" from Art Fag Recordings. While some may have dismissed their original output as being formulaic or just
another band in the lo-fi, girl group trend, the new 7" contains three new tracks and seems to show what they've learned off the success of that initial release and two years of extensive touring. 'Seconds Away' is the lead track off the 7" and keeps their C86 leanings and dreamy reverb-soaked vocals, but also sheds any naiveties their sound may have been blamed for. It's a well-crafted and extremely catchy pop song. Take a listen to this super catchy track as well as 'Street Feelings' off Cry Out Loud. Buy the new 7" here.
