Breaking away a bit from some of the noisier stuff that graces this blog, Freelance Whales are gearing up to set course on a new direction with their sophomore LP, Diluvia, to be released October 9 from Mom + Pop and Frenchkiss Records (pre-order). Their 2010 debut LP flirted with electronics, but for their latest effort they've embraced its integration for a full-
fledged pop sound that is filled with vibrance. Their craftwork is evident in the complex and unique instrumentation. Two songs from the new LP have been released to the public in anticipation for the LP release and you can check them both out above. 'Splitting Image' soars along with gleeful vocals and a swirling synth that carries you far away. The band plans to set out on a US tour in support of the release that brings them to L.A. on Oct. 16 at the El Rey Theater (tickets) and Oct. 17 at The Oberservatory (tickets).
