Brooklyn based Woods can be a pretty divisive band. From my experience, folks either tend to love them or are completely indifferent to them. Their sound, particularly the extreme falsetto vocals, is extraordinarily unique, and in my case I've always enjoyed the general sound, but it's been over time, and especially since the release of their 2009 LP Songs
Of Shame, that the band's sound as a whole has become synonymous with everything joyous for me. Their seventh LP, Bend Beyond, is due out on September 18 from the lead singer's (Jeremy Earl) record label Woodsist. 'Cali In A Cup' was the first tune from the new LP released to the web last month and it's undeniably Woods with shimmering guitar work and harmonica. 'Size Meets The Sound' is another song from the LP that was just released and it's a captivating tune that features some lovely songwriting and musicianship with more groove than Woods would typically get credit for. This LP is supposed to capture more of the band's live performance and this song is clear evidence of that. They just wrapped up a very small west coast tour that saw them at the Echo on August 8th, but a larger tour is promised after the release of the record. Keep your eyes here for details.
