I have a feeling The Fresh & Onlys are ready to take over. They've grown very steadily over the past few years and now seemed poised to explode their pure goodness all over the place. We just saw solo releases from Tim Cohen's Magic Trick and Wymond Miles on June 12, but now we're getting a taste from the whole band''s next LP, Long Slow Dance, out
September 4 from Mexican Summer that's promised to be 'gut-wrenching.' Tim Cohen says it's a 'mature, anthemic, and, in subtle ways, a pretty weird album,' which sounds like a recipe for a breakthrough to me. Its first single 'Yes Or No' is very accessible and has a driving rhythm that deserves to be played over and over and over. It's available June 19 on 7" b/w 'Back The Night' (pre-order). They'll be in town right after that on 9/7 at The Echo (tickets) and their show is not to be missed. 'Do What I Came To Do' is an Echo & The Bunnymen style rocker that is a new track off a recent Mexican Summer sampler, but won't be on the new LP.
