Killing Him
Amy is this badass gal from Memphis who plays the upright bass. Her songs are very eclectic, ranging from dark Americana to psychedelia to grungy blues. Her new LP was released July 19 on Archer Records and was produced Craig Silvey who worked on Arcade Fire's Suburbs. On this record she abandons her traditional Americana sound to
experiment with a more rock sound and it complements her voice well. There are themes of heartbreak and loss throughout the record, but serious personal tragedies preceding the recording of the album would do that. She'll be in town on September 10 at Hotel Cafe, which is one of the most intimate, cozy, and gorgeous venues in town...so it should suit Amy and her upright bass perfectly for an absolutely lovely evening.
