Trellic
Baxter Dury’s third album ‘Happy Soup’(buy) (produced by Craig Silvey - Arcade Fire, Arctic Monkeys, Portishead) was released August 15 on Regal Recordings and as of now is only available in the U.S. as an import. It veers from the darkness and romantic disappointments of previous LPs ‘Len Parrot’s Memorial Lift’ (2002) and ‘Floor Show’
(2005), so much so that Dury refers to his new effort as “seaside psychedelia.” Baxter is from England and this is clearly an English record. The album is fun and diverse in its sound with touches of electro and indie and a clear emphasis on sound and production. It's interesting because it's his own sound and it should make a splash for the same reason...I'm just not sure how many folks are aware of it. I can't even find a link to make a vinyl purchase. Take a listen to (and download) the first single off the new LP, 'Claire,' along with a stream of a favorite on the record 'Trellic.'
