Andy Jordan has been roaming around the Bay Area music scene for over a decade and in that time he's been making his mark in perfecting a glamfully punk sound in projects such as The Cuts and The Time Flys. His initial venture into a solo
project as Andy Human brought us the spacey delight of 'Toy Man' from Tic Tac Totally Records (buy) with its lifting, swirling synth and 80's influenced perfection. Presently, Andy is taking these influences and utilizing them in two different outlets that are resulting in distinctly different products, but with equally tantalizing qualities. The first is his solo Andy Human project that recently saw the release of his sophomore LP FREEZE earlier this month on our very own CWR Records (buy), which is loaded with high-energy, glam infused songs about uncertainty, displacement and discontent masked behind tons of sugary hooks. His other current project, LENZ, is a band he formed along with other Bay Area artists such as Ray Seraphin (Nobunny, Impediments) and Kephera Moon (Dragon Time), and the result takes his penchant for 80's melodies and modernizes it to create the most glistening, crystallized pop you've heard in a long time. Their four song EP, Under Neon, was released on Tic Tac Totally Records (buy) in February of this year and is a great introduction to their high class pop sound. The EP is also available to stream and download at Bandcamp. They have a debut full-length release slated for early 2013 from 1-2-3-4 Go! Records that is going to contain an all new batch of songs as well as the immediate classic, 'Leaving (the 21st Century)' from a 7" on S.S. Records release last year (buy). I won't say 'it should be good,'..fortunately, I have the opportunity to confidently say that it IS good. More release details here when they become available. LENZ is bringing their ice pop sounds to L.A. next week for two shows! Catch them Friday, November 9 for a free in-store at Burger Records, and Saturday November 10 at Blue Star Cafe with the legendary Mark Sultan.
