The Barbaras are a band out of Memphis that began to stir up quite the scene in the late 2000s. Their live shows were unforgettable and they released the 'Summertime Blues' 7" in 2008 on Goner Records. Anticipation for a full-length ensued and never happened, but it wasn't for any failing to attempt. Jay Reatard recorded them as best he could between his
insane touring schedule, and ultimately took two of the band members on tour with him (Hayes and Pope). Eventually the band fizzled, and members re-emerged in the bands The Magic Kids and Wavves. Jay made claims that he'd destroyed all of The Barbaras recordings, but Goner Records has provided that exciting news that the recording sessions were found, and with a little TLC, mixing, and mastering, we finally have ourselves the long-awaited full-length LP from The Barbaras entitled The Barbaras 2006-2008...and what the fun, frolicking, sunshine-filled rocker it is.
