[on repeat] LAZY BONES by Wooden Shjips

Dial 666 (by Night Beats)

San Francisco and psychedelia go hand in hand, and SF's Wooden Shjips (prounounced 'shyips') have been perfecting this blend since 2006.  On their latest single, 'Lazy Bones,' the 4-piece puts a bit more kick in their signature fuzzy drone to some wonderful results.  The song features a steady, consistent groove that is backed with some space age keyboards that you can ride like a distorted
wave for just under four minutes.  It may sound like a familiar formula since one of the band's guitarists also plays in Moon Duo.  The band's newest LP, West, will be released September 13 on Thrill Jockey Records and features more of the keyboard tinged, drone and psychedelia that you'd expect from the band's third proper LP.  Take a listen to this fantastic single along with another sneak peek, 'Home,' from the forthcoming LP West.  After that, pick up some tickets to see these guys for FREE at The Echo on August 19 and The Casbah in San Diego August 20.  All you need to do is RSVP to the shows here.  There are also some free shows in San Francisco, Portland, and Seattle.

Seattle's Night Beats will be opening at all the free shows.  They're a perfect fit for the bill...as you can hear from the song 'Dial 666' off their recently released self-titled LP from Trouble In Mind Records.

Update:  The LP is now available for pre-order here
