You may have heard of North Carolina's Wyla since a demo EP was released last January on Bandcamp for free. The debut EP, Spring EP, was also released for free on their Bandcamp last March, and was shortly followed up by a debut LP, Dulcet, in August (also free). A few songs from the LP have been featured on the radio stream, but as of late the songs have been striking a chord with me so I wanted to give
them a well-deserved post of their own. On these two tracks you will hear Wyla's drony and gazy sound, but in two very different aspects. 'You're The One' is off Dulcet, and is a moody, slow-burning electronic affair very reminiscent of New Order. 'Drive Forever,' from Spring EP, is harsher than most of their other stuff in that it carries blasting guitar, aggression, and sludges along in a terrified gaze. No record label as of yet...why is that?
