You Gotta Have Someone
Mikal Cronin's breakout year continues...earlier this year he released his extremely well-received (and well-deserved) self-titled, debut LP on Trouble In Mind Records, and now he's
closing out the year with a couple of other releases for us. This month we see a new 7" on Goner Records featuring two new tracks, the crazy good A-side 'Tide' that you'll need to listen to the radio stream to get a sneak peek of because the interweb hasn't got a hold of it yet, and the equally impressive B-side 'You Gotta Have Someone,' which you can check out above. As if that isn't enough, we get another catchy tune in the same week from a split release coming out soon with King Khan and The Shrines that includes the track 'Am I Wrong' to promote the 2nd Annual Bruise Cruise Festival...the 3-day rock fest...on a cruise ship...that takes you from Miami to the Bahamas...and includes 10 concerts the weekend of Feb 10-13 (tickets)...is there anything that sounds more fun than this?! It gets better...this year's lineup features Mikal, King Khan, Thee Oh Sees, The Soft Pack, and Ty Segall as part of The Togas (a covers supergroup also featuring Phillip Sambol of The Strange Boys, Shannon Shaw of Shannon and The Clams, and Lance Wille of the Reigning Sound). Both of Mikal's new tunes above continue his knack for the catchy, pop-driven rock we all loved on the LP so enjoy. Sorry, no mp3s today...the labels have to set some guidelines once in a while.
Mikal is coming back to L.A. as part of the absolutely great lineup that you wouldn't want to miss of Ty Segall, White Fence, Mikal, and The Feeling of Love at The Troubadour on March 3 ($12 tickets).
