SKINNED by no age
i've finally gotten around to giving the new lp by no age, everything in between, a proper listen, and truthfully, i'm a bit disappointed in myself for waiting so damn long. 'glitter' was a single released from the record last month. the lp is released next week (9/28) on subpop! records. the pic above is the vinyl, which comes in deluxe packaging. grab it here in one format or another.

[on repeat] MEMORY BOY by deerhunter
deerhunter's great new, 'on repeat' lp, halcyon digest, comes out on 9/28 and can be purchased here. but don't take my word for it, if you haven't gotten a hold of a leaked copy then head over to NPR where you can listen to all the psychedelic textures and layers streaming for free. they will be performing at the music box on 11/1 (tickets). here are two of the many highlights.

[on repeat] WOE IS ME by the walkmen
over the years, ny's the walkmen has steadily matured into a consistent, passionate, top tier band (in my world at least) further developing their expansive sound and feel with each record. they've well maintained that description with their new record and then some. as many of the other ny bands of their era have fallen to the wayside or to levels of mediocrity, the walkmen created a sound and place all their own...not looking to revisit the past or to mimic another. they will be bringing their 'on repeat' lisbon tunes to the music box tonight with japandroids. you'd be remiss to miss. tickets are still available here.

HEARTS OF LOVE by crocodiles
second lp from the san diego duo crocodiles is called sleep forever (yup, that's the witty album art above), and it comes out on 9/14. here's a tune from it. their acclaimed debut crossed velvet underground and primal scream and they seem to be expanding and improving the formula. buy/pre-order it here.

fans of the dark, industrial sound of the early 80's definitely need to check out this trio from montreal. their self-titled lp includes both of these tracks and came out in july of this year on post-wave label wierd records. if this leaves you wanting more, they also self-released an ep, fait ses courses, last year.

TATTOOED TEARS by ice cream shout
ice cream shout is an unsigned band from japan (probably not for long). the song tattooed tears is what first grabbed my attention (from WTD/MOKB), but i later learned, after grabbing a copy, that it's not on their self-titled debut record, which you can get here. if you're itching for a digital copy of tattooed tears to round out your collection, that's available at their bandcamp (and below).
